Your Story Has a Shape. Let's Find It Together.
Hands-on storytelling workshops for turning personal and family memories into stories worth telling
— available in person and online.
We all have a story. The challenge is learning to tell it.
The Living Story is built around a simple belief: the stories sitting in your memory — and the ones passed down at your kitchen table — deserve to be told well, not just remembered. This is intergenerational storytelling: the practice of listening for, receiving, and carrying forward the stories that belong to the people who raised you, and the ones who came before them.
Whether you read alongside others in the Book Club, build your skills in a workshop, or work one-on-one with a coach, you'll get practical tools, a chance to try them out loud, and supportive, encouraging feedback. Whether you're a lifelong storyteller, an educator bringing oral tradition into your classroom, or someone who's been told “you should write that down” one too many times, The Living Story meets you where you are.
Three Ways to Grow as a Storyteller
Read. Build. Polish. Start wherever you are.
A Living, Growing Series
The Living Story isn't a fixed curriculum — it's a platform that grows as storytelling itself does. New workshops are in development, including a session on writing your memoir responsibly alongside AI: how to use these new tools without losing your own voice, memory, or the truth of what happened.
Each session stands on its own, and together they build a complete toolkit for finding, shaping, and telling your story.
In-Person
Bring The Living Story to your library, school, conference, or festival. Every workshop is tailored to fit the time available, the setting, and the audience in the room — from a single focused session to a deeper multi-part series. This curriculum has already been adapted across formats, from a full four-part virtual series to shorter in-person sessions, and it can be shaped the same way for your event.
Virtual (Zoom)
Join from anywhere. The complete four-part series runs live over Zoom, reaching participants regardless of location — ideal for storytelling guilds, book clubs, libraries coordinating across branches, or individuals who want the full experience from home.
